Our Story
Imam Reza International University
Imam Reza International University is a non-profit, private university, established in 1999 with the approval of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. Founded to educate and develop skilled and committed professionals, the university began by offering two undergraduate programs in Library and Information Science and Physical Education.
With the expansion of physical infrastructure, human resources, faculty, facilities, and equipment, along with the growth in educational and research activities, Imam Reza International University has added a diverse range of programs, obtained accreditation for postgraduate and doctoral studies, and increased student enrollment. These developments have established the university as a top-tier non-profit university under the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. Today, the university employs nearly 60 full-time faculty members and over 600 adjunct instructors, offering 60 academic disciplines at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels across a 30,000-square-meter campus, providing a supportive, peaceful, and academic environment for the generation, dissemination, and application of knowledge.
As the university grew domestically, it adopted an international outlook, focusing on scientific and educational collaboration with neighboring countries, especially Muslim nations. With the Ministry of Science’s approval, the term “International” was added to its name, marking its commitment to impactful academic and research partnerships. Imam Reza International University is the only non-profit university in Iran with consular authorization, admitting international students since 2003.
The university operates across two campuses, including an “International Education and Studies” campus, six faculties—”Physical Education and Sport Sciences,” “Architecture and Urban Planning,” “Administrative Sciences,” “Humanities,” “Educational Sciences and Psychology,” and “Engineering”—and 12 academic departments.
Imam Reza International University ranks fourth among Iranian non-profit universities and holds a position in the Round International Rankings.
